Collaborations - Gilbert & George
Gilbert and George are contemporary artists who have been collaborating together for over forty years. They are famous for their films and ‘living sculptures.’ They place themselves, their thoughts and their feelings in the centre of their art; however their works capture human experiences. They believe that everything can be a subject matter of their work, and have always addressed social issues, taboos and artistic conventions. Their film format is usually a large grid, a square or rectangular picture broken into sections that develop into a field of signs and images. From the beginning Gilbert and George adopted the slogan ‘Art for All’, intending to communicate beyond the narrow confines of the art world.
