Edgar Muller

Following on with some of the other posts about graffiti art/artists I thought of Edgar Muller. I found this article while waiting at Glasgow airport and thought it was quite interesting. I had not heard of him before.
He and his team create three dimensional artwork on the footpath.

Edgar Muellers "crevasse" (see photo- left)was recently featured on NineMSN, involving time lapse photography, the video showed how the painting was prepared and painted by the Artist and Group on a footpath in Ireland, replete with dog walkers and roller-bladers. The juxtaposition to a Horizontal painting surface brought a heightened sense of drama and foreboding to the work, which is as cold and abyss-like as the icy cracks it portrays. And the development of the time lapse indicated a superior technique, there were several times in the video that the work would have seemed complete, only to be detailed further with a seemingly masterful eye.

In Sydney there is a group who do similar but smaller works with pastels and chalk, the works are usually done either at the front of the QVB (Queen Victoria Building) or in Pitt street mall. While alot of the works are just popular culture icons, such as cartoon characters like the simpsons, some pieces use a similar 3D set up in which from a certain angle the work seems to go beyond the ground.
i'm sorry to say i don't at this point have any photos of said pieces but should the chance arise i will post photos later
