the exporation of time

Time is perhaps the most elusive concept perceived through art, perhaps the first example that spings to mind is Dali's 'melting clocks'... as i'm sure most know the inspiration for this piece came to Dali as he was waiting for his wife (? i can't remember of the top of my head but i believe it was either his wife or Goya he was waiting for..) seeing the camenbert cheese melting in the sun just like the minutes slowly melted away...

Time it seems is a subject that becomes all consuming and intrisically linked with ideas of space, perceptions of reality, philosophy and states of being. It is certainly a subject that i have attempted to explore in the past.

It is a running theme in Richard Kelly's cult films "Donnie Darko" and "Southland Tales", the idea of the manipulation of time which in these cases are through the exsistance of a 'tangent universe', a forth dimention in which the characters and intrinsically involved in a battle to understand the 'realities' of time which is fragmented and re-aligned.., there are many contradicting theories of time as stated in Eleanor Heartly's art & today, from theorists, philosophers, artists, scientists. I think it is a concept that continues to baffle and intriugue...
