more quotidian...

while i was fumbling through Amanda's link 'two thousand' i came across a japanese born sydney artist Koji Ryui and instantly the quotidian object came alive. The above instilation called 'milk tree society' was on display at artspace in 2005. Classic example of quoditian art Ryui uses the readymade everyday object and explores the posibiltities of contstuction and space. Check out 'terminus projects' http://www.terminusprojects.org/projects/ryui.htm there are some really interesting concepts being developed in this project i found, especially in 'first draft' in which Ryui sits with a white box over his head and proceeds to blindly draw portraits using what i can only asume to be the sense of touch and presence of the other person... really quite interesing..
